Private companies will run trains on the network of Indian Railways and for this, they can fix the fare accordingly. Railways have left it to private companies to decide the fare of the train. Along with this, she will be able to decide and consider various other options to raise revenue.
How will the fare be decided
Recently, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal gave information related to running of trains of private companies. Discussions were also held in this regard about 10 days ago. The government will allow private companies to operate 151 trains on Route 109. This permission will be for 35 years.
It has been said by the Railways that the fare of private train will be decided by the companies which will run it. This fare will be according to the market. No approval will be required for this. However, according to sources, the Indian Railways will have to seek permission from the Cabinet or Parliament for such matters. According to the Railway Act, only the Central Government or the Railway Ministry in the country can decide the fare of a passenger train.
Train journey will be expensive
According to officials, the fare of private trains will be higher than the current fare. This is because there is no rule to fix fare in these trains. By the way, the fare of Shatabdi Express running from Ahmedabad to Mumbai is much more expensive than the fare of the current trains. Not only this, companies running private trains can sell tickets on their website. However, they have to link the website’s backend with the Railway Passenger Reservation System, which is currently with the Indian Railways.
