MNC, IT-BPO companies to increase work from home by end of July in Gurugram

Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority CEO VS Kundu said on Sunday that companies from MNCs, IT and BPOs in the city would have to allow their employees to work from home by the end of July. Kundu is also the Additional Chief Secretary of Haryana. He said that many real estate projects, including DLF, have got the green signal to resume construction, but for this the rules of social distancing will have to be followed.

Gurugram is a part of NCR and has a number of BPOs, MNC companies and technology companies including Infosys, Genpact, Google and Microsoft. The Gurugram district administration had issued an advisory in mid-March asking MNC companies, BPOs, IT companies, corporates and industries to allow work from home.

Now it seems that Work from Home’s advisory will continue till the end of July. Kundu told that those who have offices in Gurugram should continue to work from home.

Kundu, who is in charge of Gurugram district to deal with the Corona virus crisis, said it is appropriate that companies ensure that as many employees as possible work from home. He said that this may not be possible in the case of industries and manufacturing sector, but it should be followed as far as possible.

Kundu said that some construction sites in the GMDA and NHAI projects have been allowed to resume work within the norms of social distancing. He said that construction sites where laborers already live or live within walking distance are allowed to resume work, following the rules of social distancing.

The CEO of GMDA said that the nature of the corona virus epidemic is such that no one knows when we will be able to function normally as before.

Apart from being a corporate hub, Gurugram is also a hub for the automobile industry. There have been 51 cases of Corowa virus so far. 35 of these have been cured. Gurugram, Noonh, Palwal and Faridabad are included in the Red Zone of Haryana.

According to the Union Health Ministry, 289 cases have been registered in the state on Sunday. Out of this 176 have been cured and he has been discharged from the hospital.
