Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation, mentioned one nation one ration card. He said, ‘We have dreamed for the whole of India. Many states have done well. We are urging the rest of the states to take the work forward. The job is to arrange a ration card for the entire country. That means one country, one ration card. ‘

On May 14, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also mentioned this while announcing the economic package. Its biggest benefit will be to the poor who leave their village for employment and move to another state. The biggest benefit of this will be to those poor colleagues who leave their village and go elsewhere for employment.

What is a country, a ration card scheme?
Under this scheme of Modi government, beneficiaries can take ration on their card from any ration dealer in any part of the country. The beneficiaries will not have to surrender their old ration card and have to get a new ration card in place of the old one.

Any citizen of India can apply
If you are a citizen of India, you can apply for this ration card. Children below 18 years will be added to the ration card of the parents.

Previously it was the rule
Earlier, in the district whose ration card was made, you could get ration in the same district. On the other hand, if you had changed the district, you would not have benefited from it. This makes the poor easily get grain at affordable prices. One country, after the implementation of a ration card, people below the poverty line can buy ration in any corner of the country at an affordable price.

This way the beneficiaries will be identified
Under this government scheme, beneficiaries of PDS will be identified on their Aadhaar card with Electronic Point of Sale (PoS). POS machines will be installed at all PDS shops to implement this scheme in the country. As soon as states report POS machines at all PDS shops, they will be included in the ‘one country, one ration card’ scheme.

Poor care of the poor in lockdown
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that during the lockdown, it was the highest priority of the country that such a situation does not happen that the stove is not burnt in the house of a poor person. Be it central government, state governments, civil society people, everyone has made every effort that none of our poor brothers and sisters should go hungry in such a big country. He said that if we have been able to provide food grains to the poor and needy during this crisis, then for this, the farmers and honest tax payers of the country
