The army foiled a major attempt to infiltrate the Farkian Gali sector along the Line of Control in Kupwara district of North Kashmir. Two militants were killed in the army’s retaliation, while one is injured. At the same time, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Anantnag. In Kupwara district, the soldiers posted on the LoC saw two groups of eight terrorists intruding on Monday-Tuesday night. On this, the army opened heavy fire on the terrorists. Sources said that two terrorists from Al Badr were killed and one Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was injured. It was a group of Al Badr and Lashkar. At the same time, buoyed by this action, the Pakistani army fired on shells targeting forward posts and residential areas on Tuesday in Naugam sector of Baramulla district. In Waghama village of Bijbihara in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, security forces on Tuesday took revenge for the martyrdom within four days by killing two militants in an encounter. The two were partners of JKIS militant Zahid Das and were involved in the killing of a CRPF personnel and a four-year-old innocent in Bijbihara on 26 June. Arms and some documents have also been recovered from them. The slain terrorists were hiding under the ground. The terrorists were asked several times to surrender, but they did not agree. According to sources, the slain terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed. These include Yawar Ahmed of Hatigam Bijbihara and Arshid Ahmed of Marhama Bijbihara. They will be buried by DNA sampling.

The initial information in the Anantnag encounter was that militant Zahid Das has been killed in the encounter, which is responsible for killing the CRPF jawan and a four-year-old child in Bijbihara on 26 June. Maximum 48 terrorists killed in June
IG Vijay Kumar said that so far this year, most of the 48 terrorists have been killed in the month of June. Of these, 37 have been killed only in southern Kashmir.
