The African Cup, the African football’s top football tournament, has been postponed until 2022 due to the corona virus. It was earlier scheduled to be held in January 2021. The African Football Confederation said on Tuesday that the 24-team tournament to be held in Cameroon will now begin a year later in January 2022.

“The dates of the tournament and the remaining matches of the qualifiers will be informed at the right time,” the federation said after the executive committee meeting. The schedule of this continental championship has been changed for the second time this year, it was earlier scheduled to be held in June-July 2021, but then Cameroon has a rainy season so it was decided to hold it in January.
